Harold Hodgson Sharp 1911-1913

Son of Samuel &Marie Sharp (Hodgson). Born in Queensbury near Bradford, Yorks on 6th April 1992. Was received into the Church with his parents shortly afterwards and sent by his P.P. (St Cuthbert’s, Bradford) to Ushaw but on for the Shrewsbury Diocese. He was educated at Ushaw 1898-1909 and ordained by Bishop Singleton at St Joseph’s, Birkenhead on 8th August 1909.

Curate at Our Lady’s, Stockport 1909-11; St Alban’s, Liscard 1911-13. Then tried his vocation at the Carthusian monastery of Parkminister, Sussex. He stayed 18 days and the register states that he was not strong enough. Curate At Crewe 1913-17.

He left the priesthood and joined the Church of England and got married. In 1923 he was offered a curacy by the Bishop of London which he did not accept. Shortly afterwards he was reconciled to the Church. No more definite information about him after this time.
