Was undoubtedly possessed of a very fine brain shown in his exam results at the Gregorian University in Rome. The rector of the English College – Mgr Godfrey – wanted him to take his D.D. but Bishop Moriarty would not hear of it. He disliked being Secretary as he wanted to do pastoral work. He died on 26th June 1975 and is buried at Landican, Birkenhead.
